Amazon’s overall shipping costs have ballooned in recent years as the company aims to speed up delivery, both with products purchased on Amazon.com and via Prime Now, such as Whole Foods orders. During Q3, Amazon spent a whopping .6 billion globally on shipping, up 46 percent year-over-year. It’s a safe bet that shipping costs will eclipse billion this holiday quarter, adding to what could be more than billion spent on shipping over 2019.

Among the six brands that were featured at the French pavilion at the trade fair was Maison Lener, a family-run business that specializes in women's coats. This month the brand opened two stores in China, one in Shanghai's former French Concession and another in downtown Dalian, Liaoning province. Maison Lener also has an office in Beijing.

Among the earnings, room sales totaled 42.7 billion yuan while food and beverage incomes constituted 38.2 billion yuan, accounting for 45.5 percent and 40.7 percent of the total revenue, respectively.

Ambient air pollution

Amazon’s rise is due in part to its investment in original content. Award-winning shows like “Transparent,” “Man in the High Castle,” and “Mozart in the Jungle” have helped Amazon Video quickly become a competitor in the video streaming space. The model was pioneered by Netflix, with original series like “House of Cards” and “Orange is the New Black.” Amazon said it planned to double spending on original shows in the second half of this year compared to the same period last year.
